A NaLu Fan Fiction - Chapter 2

Lucy’s P.ov.

It’s dark. I can’t see anything. Where am I? I’m floating... But where?? There’s nothing but darkness around me.

“Portam Ad Galaxia Mundi Aperite...”

“Who’s there?” I want to shout but my voice just won’t listen to me. I look around to find the one who just said those weird words which don’t make any sense to me. But I can’t see a thing!

“Virtutes Stellarum Summone!”  There it is again! What the heck is that? Strange. It’s like the voice is in my head and keeps repeating these words again and again. What do they mean? Someone, please help me! I wanna get out of here!

“Portam Ad Galaxia Mundi Aperite...” Stop it!! I don’t wanna hear it! Just as I think that a small light appears in front of me. Then a second one. Then a third, a fourth, a fifth, until I’m surrounded by millions of small light sources. With my eyes wide open I try to figure out what the meaning of this is supposed to be. But I can’t concentrate since those strange words are getting louder. All of a sudden the lights begin to spin around me. Everything’s getting fuzzy. Either because of the light sources or because of the tears in my eyes. I close them as hard as I can and scream. I scream until I’m out of air. When I finally open my eyes again, the lights have disappeared. And so has the voice in my head. However it’s still pitch black, though I don’t feel like I’m floating in the middle of nowhere anymore.

I’m lying on my bed. I feel the softness and the warmth of my pillow and blanket. It’s still dark outside, though I get up anyway. As I walk into the bathroom, I can’t help it but to think about the dream I had just now. What was that all about? “Portam Ad Galaxia Mundi Aperite et Virtutes Stellarum Summone”, I quietly keep repeating it to myself, not even realising it. After I undress, I switch on the shower and let icy-cold water stream over me. First I shiver at the sudden coldness enveloping me, yet I can’t think of something better in a condition like I am now. Soon I get used to the coldness and I relax as I sit down on the floor, wrapping my arms around my legs and just let the cold water run over my body. I stay in this position for about ten minutes. Afterwards I let hot water stream over me, before I towel myself off. I warp a towel around my body and walk over to the mirror. As I see my reflection, I let out a sigh. “Look at you”, I tell my self, “You look like you haven’t slept for ages... Whatever. All I have to do is not to let Levy notice in what condition I am. Otherwise she’ll be worried and she’ll refuse to go on the mission with me.”

Slowly I walk back to the living room and look at the clock. It’s  4.12a.m. I’m supposed to meet Levy in less than three hours. What should I do until then? I get dressed and eat breakfast while reading a book. After I finished eating I look at the clock again. 4.34a.m. Man, this sucks!!! I continue reading the book, though I don’t really feel like reading just now. So I decide to go for a walk.

It seems no one’s awake yet. As I walk next to the river, (I don’t even know why) I think about Natsu and ask myself, what he could be doing right now.

Natsu’s P.o.v.

“... And when she told me, she would go on a mission with Levy, I felt relieved somehow but at the same time I felt sad ‘cause she didn’t asked me- I mean US! to accompany her. And then I made her promise me, when she comes back, we would go on a mission together- THE THREE OF US OF COURSE!” Okay, that was a lie. “Then I left, though I didn’t want to. I only left ‘cause she said she wanted to get some rest and I didn’t want to get her angry at me. And what strange about the whole situation was, that I felt my heart race all the time. Aaaannnd once it even skipped a beat! AND I think I was blushing too while I spoke to her!! AAANNNDD I don’t understand why I can’t get her out of my mind since I left!!!”

“I see...” Happy says half asleep. “That sounds like you’re in looooove with her”, he teases me the way he teases everyone.

“Happy, I’m serious! Help me find out what’s wrong with me and why I want to be at her side all the time!”

“You mean, you’re seriously in looooove with her.” He giggles but stops as soon as he sees my expression. “Okay, okay... I’m sorry. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you, seriously though I really think you’re in love with Lucy...”

First I think he’s still joking around but the looks on his face tells me that I’m wrong. Is he telling the truth? Is that really what love feels like? I never thought love could ever works on me.

“Natsu?”, the blue cat brings me back from my thoughts.

“Yeah, what is it?”, I ask.

“Can I go to bed now? It’s almost morning...”

“Oh, yeah. Sure. Sorry for bothering you.” Did I really talk about Lucy all night long? I really am in love with her, ain’t I? Anyway, I can’t sleep now. What time is it anyhow? I take a look at the clock. It’s 4.41a.m. I need some fresh air. After I close the door behind me, I look up to the sky. It’s cloudy and it looks like it would start to rain any minute. Should I take an umbrella with me?, I think to myself. I decide not to and start walking towards the beach. Lost in thought I don’t even realise it started raining until I hear the church bell knelling, which means it’s 5 o’clock a.m. When I finally get to the beach, it’s raining like hell, though I don’t care. I lift my head to look at the dark, stormy waves. Only then I spot something in the water. Or maybe someone. A girl. Why would she be standing in the water now while it’s raining and at a time like this on top of it?, I ask myself. She’s standing with her back turned to me, so she probably haven’t noticed me yet.

The more I look at the girl a few meters away from me, the more she seems to be familiar to me somehow. Then it strikes me! Lucy! It’s gotta be her! But why is she here? Step by step I go into the lukewarm water. Slowly I reduce the distance between us. I stop when I’m only a few steps away from her.

“Hey, Lucy!”, I shout through the rain, not too loud to scare her but loud enough for her to hear. Suddenly she turns around and looks at me in surprise.

“Natsu! What are you doing here?”, she asks and walks over to me so we wouldn’t have to shout.

“I was going to as the same.”, I smile at her.

“I can’t sleep. That’s all.”, she turns her head to the side. Maybe she doesn’t want me to see her expression but I already figured out, she’s kinda distracted. “And you?” Now she looks at me again.

“I... Err... I couldn’t sleep either.” I blush. Fortunately it’s too dark for her to see it though. “Hey, don’t you want to go somewhere else? Otherwise you’ll catch a cold.”

“Hmm... I actually came here to see the sunrise, but I guess I won’t see a thing while it’s cloudy, right? What do you have on mind where could we go?”

“I don’t know. How about the guildhall? It’s not that far...”

“Sure. Why not? Let’s go!” She smiles with the cutest smile I’ve ever seen. It makes me want to touch her face. I lift my hand to her face and just before I touch her I stop. What am I doing?!

“What are you doing, Natsu?” That’s what I wanna know.

“Err... Nothing, you just have something in your hair”, I lie and stroke her hair as if I would remove something. She got the smoothest golden hair on the world. I force my hand to lower down.

Lucy’s P.o.v

I hope he didn’t noticed my blushing, I think to myself as we walk towards the guildhall. I still have two hours left until I meet Levy. Hmmm... I’m nervous. I know I should say something but what? Usually Natsu’s the one who can’t stop talking but now it seems he doesn’t know what to say either. He looks as uncomfortable as I am. But why? I didn’t do anything, did I? Never mind. I have to break the silence!

“Soo... How’s Happy?”, I smile at him while cursing in my thoughts. ‘How’s Happy’???!!! That was the worst possible way of starting a conversation. Weeellll done Lucy! Great Job!, I sarcastically think to myself.

“Err... I think he’s doing fine.”, he answers with a surprised look on his face.

“Ah... That’s good, isn’t it?” I don’t want our conversation to end here so I just ask what comes to my mind. “And did Carla get to like him better?”

“Yeah, they’are now doing missions together. I think they get along just fine”

“Mm... Good to know.” I sigh. What now? I can’t think of another subject we could talk about so I let it be. I wonder, what he’s thinking about just now. I slowly turn my head into Natsu’s direction. Maybe I could read his expression? At the same moment he looks over to me and our eyes meet. I hold my breath until I feel my heart ache. Only then I realise that I’m staring at him, therefore I quickly turn my head in the other direction. My face turns crimson red, though I’ve seen his face blush too which makes me kinda happy.

After another five minutes walking, we finally arrive to the guildhall and Natsu opens the door. It’s pitch black inside which means we’re the first to get there. But that also means that we’re completely alone! It’s just the two of us here? Omg... What now? I don’t know what to do! Or what to say! Okay... Calm down Lucy. It’s just Natsu. Your team-mate. You go on like you always do. Like friend do.

I take a deep breath and try to relax. But unfortunately I have no control over my heart which is pounding like crazy.

“Hmm... It seems like we’re the only ones here for now.” Finally Natsu realised it too. He walks over to the bar. “Do you want something to drink?”, he asks and already takes out a glass for me.

“Err... Yes, maybe a hot tea?”, I say and follow him over to the bar. “Hey, Natsu? Could you light up some candles? I can’t see a thing.” Oh no! What have I done! What if he thinks that I want to... I don’t know... Seduce him with a ‘romantic’ (which was not my purpose) atmosphere, or something like that??

“Sure thing!”, he answers. Suddenly a small light appears on his right palm. With his left hand he takes some candles and lights them up. “Better” He smiles. Next he takes the glass, fills it up with cold water and puts some tea leaves in it. Then he sets his hand, in which he holds the glass, on fire and warms it up for me.

Hmm... I smile at him. “Thank you, Natsu. I really don’t know what I would do without you”

“Well, you probably would have to warm it up yourself”, he laughs.

“No, I meant... I don’t know what I would do if I haven’t met you in the first place. You always take such a good care of me and you’re always there for me when I needed someone. I just want say, if there’s anything I can do for you, let me know”

At first he just stares at me, probably not knowing what to say... Just as I want to add something, he places the glass on the desk and looks back at me. That makes me blush again.

“You know, there was one thing I wanted for some time now...”, he begins but gets interrupted by the loud noise caused by the door which suddenly swings open. Quickly we move a bit away from each other when Mira enters the hall with Cana and Bisca.

“He was so-... Oh, Natsu! Lucy! Hey there! What are you two up to?”, Cana asks with a mischievous smile.

“Nothing! We were... Err... Just talking!”, I quickly responde. “I wanted to leave anyway. I’ll be back in about two days. Well see you guys!” With that I ran off. That was so embarrassing, I could die right now. Though I wonder what Natsu wanted to say, before Mira and the others came in...
